In the winter of 1984, out of the blue, Jordan had a call from Donnie asking him if he wanted to go audition for a group. Since he was a breakdancer Jordan didn´t really take it too seriously, but then he decided he wanted to check it out. So Donnie set up a date to take him to Maurice Starr´s house. So there was just him & Maurice in a room & Maurice would be in the piano asking Jordan to sing some parts of the song “Be My Girl”. He sang a line & then Maurice looked at him & said “All right! You´re cool!”.
Things were not always easy in the beginning. The NKOTB had to work really hard between school & rehersals. Sometimes they would be rehersaling until late at night & then waking up early to go to school on the next day. For Jordan the two biggest problems were being away from his friends & everything he was doing. They didn´t have a right place to rehersal, so they would do it in their own basement or at community schools. Being on the bus were not so confortable neither... the five of them would have to share just one bed with Peter Work – their tour manager back then. But there were also some fun times either. As things started getting better, they would have an extra bus full of things that could might keep them entertained, such as motorized scooters, mopeds, gopeds, rockey masks & equipments, roller skates & so on. It was their toy truck, as they used to refer to it.
Than they finally got the chance to do their first presentation for a big crowd. They would open for Tiffany´s concerts – a well-known singer in the 80´s. And as her concerts was mostly full of girls, so that was the shot they needed. After some concerts with Tiffany, they were ready to go on alone...
Their biggest albuns were HANGIN TOUGH & STEP BY STEP, having Jordan & Joe as main vocals & Donnie rapping & taking part in some of the songs. In Step By Step album, all of them would have at least one solo song, like Baby, I believe In You (Jordan), Happy Birthday (Jon), Time Is On Our Side & Stay With Me Baby (Donnie), Never Gonna Fall In Love Again (Danny) & Where Do I Go From here (Joe). Some of the greatest songs of these albums includes “Please Don´t Go Girl” “Hangin Tough” “Tonight” “Cover Girl” “Games”... & “Step By Step” – that made them a success worldwide. So the early 90´s became the NKOTB era & they were the biggest thing in many coutries. They came to Brazil for the first time in 1991, for a rock festival called Rock In Rio.
Then from 1992 through 1993, “Face The Music” came on, but as they like to put on, the album had nothing to do with their real style of music. It didn´t have the soul of the group. At that time, the guys opinions started to not converge sometimes & they started to questioning towards their relationship with each other, but for Jon, specifically, things became really tough & he felt he had enough & couldn´t go any further. So he quit! Jordan felt relly upset because he knew he wouldn´t be able to continue without Jon, but he was also really comprehensible to him.
So it was in 1994 when they realized it was time to go on their saparated ways.

INICIANDO COM O NKOTB
Jordan tinha apenas 14 anos quando conheceu Maurice Starr (o primeiro produtor do grupo) pela primeira vez. Mary Alford (também sua gerente e instrutora no passado) foi quem começou a procurar por garotos que pudessem dançar e cantar, ela encontrou o Donnie primeiro. Então, o Donnie a ajudou a encontrar os outros caras para se unirem ao grupo. No inverno de 1984, Jordan recebeu uma ligação inesperada do Donnie perguntando se ele queria fazer uma audição para um grupo. Como ele era um dançarino de breakdance, Jordan não levou muito a sério, mas decidiu que queria checar o que era. E então, o Donnie marcou um horário para leva-lo à casa de Maurice Starr. Chegando lá, ele entrou num quarto com Maurice e enquanto Maurice tocava o piano, ele pediu que o Jordan cantasse algumas partes da música “Be My Girl”.Ele cantou um trecho e Maurice olhou para ele e disse: “Tá bom! Você é bacana!”
As coisas não eram sempre fáceis no começo. O NKOTB tinha que realmente trabalhar arduamente entre a escola e os ensaios. As vezes eles tinham que ensaiar até tarde da noite e acordar cedo no outro dia para ir à escola. Para o Jordan, os dois maiores problemas eram ficar longe dos seus amigos e não fazer as coisas que ele gostava. Eles não tinham um lugar certo para ensaiar. Um dia eles ensaiavam no sótão da casa de um deles e no outro em alguma escola da comunidade. Estar no ônibus não era também muito confortável... os 5 garotos tinham que dividir apenas uma cama com Peter Work (seu gerente de turnê no passado). Mas haviam também horas de diversão. Como as coisas começaram a melhorar, então eles providenciaram um ônibus extra cheio de coisas que poderiam distrai-los, tais como , lambretas bicicletas e patinetes motorizados, máscaras e equipamentos de hockey, patins, etc. Era o ônibus de brinquedos, como eles mesmos se referiam a ele.
Foi quando eles tiveram a oportunidade de fazer sua primeira apresentação para uma grande plateia. Eles iriam fazer a abertura do show da Tiffany – uma cantora bem conhecida nos anos 80, e como seus shows eram cheios de garotas, então essa foi a deixa que eles precisaram. Depois de alguns shows com a Tiffany, eles estavam prontos pra seguir adiante sozinhos.
Seus grandes álbuns foram HANGIN TOUGH e STEP BY STEP, tendo o Jordan e Joe como os vocais principais e Donnie fazendo um rap e participando em algumas músicas. No álbum Step By Step todos eles cantaram uma música solo, como, Baby, I believe in You (Jordan), Happy Birthday (Jon), Time is on our side & Stay with me baby (Donnie), Never gonna fall in love again (Danny) e Where do I go from here (Joe). Alguns maiores hits desses álbuns foram: “Please don´t go girl”, “Hangin Tough”, “Tonight”, “Cover girl”, “Games”... e “Step by Step” – que os levou ao sucesso mundial. Então, O início das anos 90 tornou-se a era dos NKOTB e eles se tornaram o grande sucesso em muitos países. Eles vieram ao Brasil pela primeira vez em 1991, para um festival de rock, chamado Rock In Rio.
Então de 1992 a 1993, o álbum “Face The Music” foi lançado, mas como eles mesmos gostam de relatar, o álbum não tinha nada haver com o verdadeiro estilo de música deles. Não tinha a alma do grupo. Nessa mesma época, suas opiniões começaram a não convergir mais algumas vezes e eles comeram a se questionar com relação aos próprios relacionamentos entre eles, mas especificamente, para o Jon as coisas se tornaram muito difíceis e ele sentiu que já tinha aguentado demais e não podia ir adiante. Então, ele desistiu! O Jordan ficou arrasado porque ele sabia que não conseguiria continuar sem o Jon, mas ele também foi realmente compreensível com o Jon.
Então, foi em 1994, que eles perceberam que estava na hora de seguir com suas vidas separadamente.
